At the 98th Academy Awards, Bvlgari used the gala’s global stage to unveil two pieces from its upcoming high jewellery collection, marking the first public look at the line that will debut later this month.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas displays the Serpenti Illusio necklace

Long‑time Bvlgari ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jonas arrived in a white Dior strapless gown and wore the brand’s Eclettica Serpenti Illusio necklace. The piece centers on a 14.01‑carat antique cushion‑cut sapphire sourced from Madagascar, surrounded by pavé diamonds, buff‑top emeralds and onyx. The design mimics a serpent, Bvlgari’s signature motif, formed through a three‑dimensional layout of 235 individual elements. According to the maker, artisans spent more than 1,300 hours assembling the necklace, a ring and matching earrings.

Chopra Jonas paired the jewellery with a confident stride onto the red carpet, allowing the detailed work to catch the camera’s attention. The sapphire’s deep blue anchors the composition, while the surrounding stones create a shifting pattern that reveals more detail the longer it is observed.

Anne Hathaway highlights the Neoclassical Starlight necklace

Another Bvlgari ambassador, Anne Hathaway, chose a contrasting piece from the same collection. Her Neoclassical Starlight necklace is crafted in platinum and features an 8.02‑carat pear‑cut Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond set in a detachable pendant. The stone sits amid a cluster of 82 additional diamonds and 21.06 carats of diamond pavé, bringing the total diamond weight to over 35 carats. The workshop reports that the piece required 850 hours of labor.

The design draws inspiration from Antonio Canova, the renowned Neoclassical sculptor, aiming to evoke the balance and clarity associated with his work. Hathaway’s appearance at the ceremony highlighted the contrast between the bright yellow centerpiece and the more subdued tones of the Serpenti Illusio, showing the collection’s range.

Both necklaces embody the Eclettica concept, which the brand describes as eclectic and free of hierarchy. The collection takes cues from sculpture, painting and architecture, seeking to blend Roman heritage with contemporary ambition. While the official launch is scheduled for later in the month, the two pieces on the Oscar stage give a clear indication of the creative direction Bvlgari intends to pursue.

From a broader perspective, the decision to debut these jewels at the Oscars reflects a long‑standing strategy among luxury houses: leveraging high‑visibility events to generate instant global exposure. By aligning the new collection with Hollywood’s most watched night, Bvlgari taps into a moment when media coverage is already at its peak, ensuring that the designs reach a worldwide audience without the need for a separate runway show.

The brand’s history with the Academy Awards stretches back decades, having dressed icons such as Elizabeth Taylor and Ingrid Bergman. This continuity reinforces Bvlgari’s position as a staple of red‑carpet glamour, while the introduction of the Eclettica line suggests a desire to evolve beyond its traditional aesthetic.

In the weeks ahead, Bvlgari will reveal the full Eclettica collection, which is expected to include additional pieces that echo the themes seen in the Serpenti Illusio and Neoclassical Starlight. Observers will watch to see how the Maison balances its heritage with the more experimental, sculptural approach hinted at by the two debut pieces.
