Lukfook Jewellery inaugurated its first UK outlet, signaling the brand’s debut in Europe with a location inside London’s Westfield Stratford City. The launch expands the retail footprint of its parent, Luk Fook Holdings, to a total of 14 nations and regions.
A ribbon-cutting event attracted representatives from Britain’s retail arena and Hong Kong’s trade promotion agency. Joey Ko, who heads the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s (HKTDC) UK, Nordics and Ireland portfolio, was joined by Amy Lowe, deputy general manager of Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, as well as Tony Hurley, the centre’s operations and estate manager. Lukfook’s senior team also attended.
Among the company’s delegation were executive director and chief operating officer Shirley Wong Hau Yeung, senior business director Billy Cheung Cheuk Kin, property director Darwin Cheung Chi Keung, UK district manager Ricky Yiu and Evana Wong, who heads the new shop. The group designs, sources, wholesales and retails gold, platinum and gemstone-set pieces across several labels.
Its portfolio comprises Lukfook Jewellery, 3DG Jewellery, Heirloom Fortune, Lukfook Joaillerie, Goldstyle and Love LUKFOOK JEWELLERY, collectively operating around 2,900 points of sale worldwide. The Stratford City store is situated within a busy East-London shopping and entertainment hub that attracts a high volume of shoppers and tourists.
Chairman and chief executive officer Wong Wai Sheung noted that the British opening fits into a three-year expansion plan launched last year, aimed at entering three additional overseas markets.
“The group set a new three-year strategic plan last year with the goal of expanding into three new overseas markets,” Wong Wai Sheung said. “As a core hub in Europe, the United Kingdom gathers international tourists and local consumers with high purchasing power, offering enormous market potential that serves as a key driver to realise this plan.”
The company will keep assessing European opportunities, fine-tune its regional store network, leverage market openings and advance its corporate vision of “Brand of Hong Kong, Sparkling the World.” Efforts will concentrate on strengthening its foothold across Europe.
